Our client is seeking an experienced Director - Private Equity Funds ..

DIRECTOR  – PRIVATE EQUITY FUNDS

The Corporate Employee and Executive Services team in Guernsey specialises in Fund administration and International Pension Plans.   However, due to continual business growth a career opportunity has arisen for this new role.   This position would ideally suit someone with experience or exposure to closed ended investment companies, unit trusts, limited partnerships, property funds and Protected Cell Companies.

This position requires an experienced professional who will assist with the efficient and effective operation of this Department from the perspective of business development, client service and administration. 

RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Service and Relationships
  • Adopting Director responsibility for the business unit’s portfolio of closed ended investment companies, unit trusts, limited partnership, property funds and Protected Cell Companies
  • Ensuring that all administration and client service issues are attended to in accordance with the department service standards and company procedures
  • Proactively assisting clients to plan for forthcoming key events
  • Attendance at meetings with clients and/or their advisers and the development of relationships with these individuals
  • Recognising cross selling opportunities and developing portfolio
  • Liaising with corporate client contacts regarding reporting requirements and problems/ issues, that arise
  • Preparation of new business proposals
Technical Competencies
  • In depth knowledge of UK GAAP and IAS.
  • Full knowledge of the Protection of Investors Law and licensing requirements
  • Ensuring that all corporate policies and regulatory frameworks are adhered to
  • Responsibility for the efficient day to day management of all client’s affairs in accordance with the terms of the appointment including maintenance of all relevant records for the cases held, ensuring action is taken, client queries are investigated and answered in a timely and efficient manner
  • Good understanding of different investment types and alternatives and risks associated with them
  • Be able to review managed investment portfolios and managing the process
  • Understand our KYC requirements
Financial Responsibilities
  • Reviewing client fee agreements and renegotiating as appropriate
  • Responsible for the achievement of the annual financial plans and targets as determined
  • Ensuring clients are billed periodically and review WIP figures to ensure maximum recovery. Explain any variances from expected fees taken
  • Fulfilling “A” signatory requirements for all transactions
  • Managerial/ Human Resource responsibilities
  • Responsibility for management decisions regarding the Guernsey fund team
  • Supporting the CEES business strategy
  • Delegating tasks and monitoring progress, ensuring deadlines are met and understood by staff
  • Managing, guiding and developing team members, including providing technical expertise
  • Involvement in recruitment, selection and resource planning
  • Actively taking part in discussion and implementation regarding new practices and procedures for the department
  • Encouraging and motivating staff and managing employee performance
  • Taking an active part in staff training both on-the-job and any external studies, provide assistance where necessary
  • Encouraging a team environment and an open communication forum
 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA or equivalent)
  • Minimum 8 years experience
  • Self-motivated, proactive, dynamic and flexible approach to work
  • Strong management, prioritisation,  organisation and delegation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to allow for good relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Sound knowledge of tax and legal issues affecting fund administration
Other Requirements
  • Prepared to travel, when required, on company business
  • Competent  IT skills, specifically in Excel
  • Team player
  • Completer/ finisher
  • Ability to use initiative and to make decisions within corporate policies
  • Ability to work under sustained pressure and meet exacting deadlines
