NET Development Manager Print E-mail

To manage the NET development team and the development projects, in addition you will be expected to expand Internet Banking, Intranet and other in house applications, plus expand applications to other business & geographic unites, review architecture, and connectivity to various systems
visible worldwide with 24/7/365 availability, utilising complex products and interfaces to various banking systems in Jersey & Guernsey
This role is a critical & senior role in the Company’s e-commerce initiatives

NEW DEVELOPMENT – DESIGN, ARCHITECTURE & CODING

  •  Design enhancements to Intranets with full regard of underlying architecture, user impact, components strengths/weaknesses
  •  Review architecture to ensure it meets business needs
  •  Lead the team in coding, implementing and supporting new enhancements, interfaces and database
  •  Provide the development teams with consultations and guidance on all areas of PC/LAN/Web development & programming
  •  For major and complex enhancements, suggest design, database, interface changes
  •  Research and document issues, database design, business impact. Conclusions
  •  Review design documents, functional specs and provide feedback, input and guidance

TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP

  •  Being the senior technical resources in the team, set the technical direction to the various system teams, as well as to the business and management
  •  Lead the group in all the areas listed below, providing advice, consultation, guidance, and draw detailed project plans, specifications, project life cycle, and status documentation through out the project
  • Train the team members through assigning specific tasks, congruent with skill set and role
  •  Interface with the users (locally & internationally), vendors, and other systems teams to build detailed specifications, adds new functionality and plans
  •  Co-ordinate with internet technologies & security groups in Bank to ensure ongoing adherence to Bank standards
  • Provide input & feedback to H.O. teams on needs, plans, system needs etc.
  •  Ensure current design, components and architecture meets business needs, growth, volumes
  •  Suggest and advance the use of new technologies, platforms & products to meet business e-commerce needs

PRODUCTION SUPPORT, TROUBLESHOOTING, & COMPLEX PROBLEM RESOLUTION

  • Act as the final line of support for complex production system issues
  •  Investigate, diagnose & resolve complex problems raised by business or systems
  •  Provide detailed information to development groups & vendors to trace problems
  •  Keep business & management advised of progress, status, plans on all problems
  •  For critical problems, advise the business & management immediately, and start corrective action
  •  Create systems monitoring procedures & thresholds, to ensure business continuity of the system & it’s various components

TESTING & IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW RELEASES, CCR’S

  •  Plan testing of new releases, fixes and change requests. Ensure test cases & test scenarios cover all aspects
  •  All interfaces are included in testing plan
  • Co-ordinate with systems & Business for user acceptance & obtain signoff for distribution to production environment
  •  Plan end-user support after distribution & changes
  • Review vendor documentation to ensure it is kept current, comprehensive, and meets the Company’s needs

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

  • Establish goals with all employees that are clearly defined, measurable and achievable, and align them with the strategic priorities of the Company
  • Provide all direct reports with ongoing and timely feedback on their performance by acknowledging and supporting their successes and guiding them on how they can improve
  •  Conduct annual performance reviews with all direct reports

Knowledge and Skills Required

  •  Project Management Skills

  • In-depth technical skills including: Web servers, HTML, Oracle AQL & Oracle database structure, Datamirror, Enabler & Siebel, ASP, NT, IP, security, Java, XML, NT, MTS, IIS, J++, JAVA Servlets, Message Queuing, MS SQL Server, VB

  •  In-depth knowledge of Visual Studio & all of it’s components, interfaces, database concepts

  •  Strong interpersonal communication and presentations skills (written and verbal)

  •  Strong people management and leadership skills

  •  This role requires a pro-active, mature, motivated team player with technical expertise and the ability to quickly make rational decisions under stress
