Senior Analyst/ Developer Print E-mail

To support and develop various interfaces, enhancements and applications. Develop applications that utilise complex products & interfaces to various banking systems in Jersey & Guernsey.  This role requires flexibility, cross-platform technical knowledge, and an eagerness to be involved in several projects, and also change priorities to meet business needs.

RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Enhancements, Development & Coding
  •  Design, code, test & implement new applications as well as enhancements to various VB/ASP/Intranet/AS400 apps with full regard of underlying architecture, user impact, components strengths/weaknesses
  • Utilise new technologies, products, & tools to speed & support development
  • Lead the team in coding, implementing, and supporting new apps, enhancements, interfaces, and databases
  •  Provide the development teams with consultations & guidance on all areas of PC/LAN /Web/AS400 development & programming
  •  For major & complex enhancements, suggest design, database, interface changes
  •  Research & document issues, database design, business impact, conclusions
  • Review design documents, functional specs, and provide feedback, input and guidance
  • Work within the team to improve software design and development through the use of structured methodologies and source code control mechanisms
  • New Projects
  •  Interface with the users (locally & internationally), vendors, and other system teams to build detailed specifications, add new functionality & plans.
  •  Co-ordinate with IT & security groups to ensure ongoing adherence to Company standards.
  •  Provide input & feedback to IT teams on application needs, plans, and system needs, etc.
  •  Ensure current design, components, and architecture meets business needs, growth, volumes
  •  Suggest & advance the use of new technologies, platforms, & products to meet business e-commerce needs
  • Production Support, Troubleshooting, CCR process & Complex Problem Resolution
  • Act as the final line of support for complex production system issues.
  •  Investigate, diagnose & resolve complex problems raised by business or Systems
  •  Provide detailed information to development groups & vendors to trace problems
  •  Keep business & management advised of progress, status, plans on all problems
  •  For critical problems, advise the business & management immediately, and start corrective action
  •  Create System Monitoring procedures & thresholds, to ensure business continuity of existing and future web-based systems & their various components 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  •  People communication skills, working as part of a single team (business, support & development)
  •  Interpersonal communications (written & verbal)
  •  Prioritise/organise various work demands, and focus on critical tasks
  •  In-depth Knowledge of Visual Studio & all of its components, interfaces, database concepts
  •  Clear understanding of the business Unit & it requirements
  •  Competent Technical skills including: Web servers, COM/DCOM, Win32 API, DHTML/HTML, ASP, Oracle SQL & Oracle database structure, RIBS, Milvus, Datamirror, Enabler & Siebel, Cognos.
  • To be thoroughly familiar with the available tools, methods, procedures and/or equipment associated with existing and future web-based systems and possess adequate technical depth to make correct choices from alternatives in all these areas.
  • Able to communicate effectively both formally and informally with all those with whom working relationships arise whether they are colleagues, clients or customers.
  •  Shows initiative and makes time available to ensure general technical competencies and specialisations are kept up-to-date in line with corporate standards and industry developments.
  •  To ensure the Manager is kept fully aware of all initiatives, issues or problems that may affect the timescales of ongoing projects within the department.
  • To ensure the team members adhere to the agreed IT policies and procedures as laid out by the Company.
  •  Required to show a significant level of interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with all levels of users from juniors to senior management.
  • A mature outlook and a considerable level of negotiating and liaising skills will be required to help deal in a professional manner with external suppliers, contractors, local support staff and with international contacts.
  •   The ability to work unsupervised within clearly defined guidelines and timescales will be paramount.
  • A quality, cost-effective, professional service must be consistently delivered through using one’s initiative, gaining the confidence of others within the immediate group, working positively as a team leader and team member as circumstances dictate.
  •  Overriding this role requires a pro-active, mature, professional, motivated team player with technical expertise and the ability to quickly make rational decisions under stress.
